Isaac Anders—1 Year

Isaac 1 year

We didn’t get Isaac’s one year photos taken until he was 13 months, but you get the idea!  He is such a sweet little boy!  He is getting quite the temper though (hmmm…must be from the Quinn side!), and definitely has a set of lungs on him!  He loves to be held and cuddled, and is my little snuggle bug.  He has the most adorable gap in his front teeth (at least it’s adorable now, if he still has it when he’s 15, it might not be so cute!  Should we start saving now for the orthodontist?)

Isaac 1 year closeup Isaac is crawling all over the place now, and cruising and pulling up on anything he can get his hands on, but still not walking…he says “da-da” but I’m still not sure he knows that it refers to Hans!  He loves playing with his brother, reading books, and throwing balls!  He is very musical, and loves to play the piano, “sing” (yaaahyaaaallaaaa) and dance (sway to any beat he hears).   We have a close friend who works with children with developmental delays and she suggested we may want to get him evaluated to see if we needed to do any sort of early intervention with him.  After waiting what seemed like FOREVER (about 6 weeks) to get him seen by the therapists, we are happy to report that he is not delayed to the point of needing assistance!  It’s been hard for us to really tell where he is, and we know all kids are different, and we can’t compare him against Reily, who was always very advanced for his age in the physical side of things.  But we had some concerns because people make comments (Oh, he’s not walking yet?), and of course as his mom it’s always hard to hear people talk negatively about your child, even if they don’t intend for it to be unkind. It was nice to meet with the experts and have them tell us not to be concerned, at least at this point!  So now we are just enjoying all of our time in this baby stage before we have two full-blown toddlers in the house! :)Isaac 1 year sitting on 1

Here’s a picture of Isaac after his 2 hour evaluation…he was wiped out, and so exhausted that he didn’t even make it out of the high chair!

Your little boys sure are cute. I didn't walk till I was more than a year old either... at least that's what I'm told.

:o) Congratluations on your beautiful family!

He is looking so big! What an absolutely adorable kid. And I completely understand, btw, the worry about delay. David was quite a late bloomer, verbally, and he learned his letters and numbers way too early. I'm so glad to hear the good news about Isaac. I agree its so hard to compare development among kids. There's just so much variation!
