The boys have been so sweet recently…we have a lot to catch up on, but before I forget these little things, I wanted to post them…
Today in the car we were listening to the radio…a song came on that Reily recognized since we often sing it at church, and he said “This is the church song! Mr. Robin (our worship pastor) sings this song!” and he started singing some of the words! Since our typical Sunday morning is spent teaching Reily how to behave politely and respectfully during worship (read: struggling to keep him still, keep him from yelling to his friends across the sanctuary, and taking turns holding him to keep him from running around until the children’s moment when the kids go back to their classrooms). It makes my heart happy to know that Reily is picking up on what’s going on around us when I seem to be the most distracted…
Also, side note…the song after that had the lyrics “Amazing Grace.” Not the typical Amazing Grace hymn, but a more contemporary song—and Reily says “This is the Amazing Race song!” (We watch the Amazing Race TV show every Sunday night with a group of friends and let all of the kiddos play…) Ha! It’s a reasonable mistake, and it made me chuckle…
