I could probably write a whole blog post of my excuses for not blogging, but I’ll just say January was a rough month…I’m hoping February proves to be less challenging, more encouraging, and all in all, not as crummy. But it’s in our weakness that we can truly appreciate God’s strength, right? His power is made perfect in our weakness.
We have Isaac sleeping in his own crib now. His first time was December 30, see picture below…it’s been going okay. I was up 6 times with him the first night, and thought I must be crazy to try to get him to sleep alone! We had him sleep with us for so long because I love my sleep and I become Cranky Mommy when I don’t have enough. So, for everyone’s sake, we had him sleep with us and I’ve been sleeping through the night since Isaac was a week old!
We decided he’s getting to the point where he needs to learn to sleep in his own crib, and he’s actually doing a pretty good job. It’s been a hard adjustment. He still wakes up to eat, but a lot less…and he goes back down, even when he’s not asleep. Reily never did that!! Woohoo…go Isaac.
Lee and Ellen watched the boys for us on New Year’s Eve so we could go to our friends house for a New Year’s Eve party…I forgot my camera, and still haven’t gotten pictures from the others…but it was nice to spend an evening out…even if I didn’t get to kiss my babies at midnight…
One of my best friends, Crystal, had a baby girl on New Year’s Day! We had a wonderful time welcoming baby Lorelei “Ellie” Elizabeth into the world…
The Girls…
Reily watching the New Year’s Day Rose Parade…
Isaac and I weren’t sure about the wind machine! :)
Reily was exhausted by the end, but clutched his new toy airplane the whole way home!
We went swimming at Grandpa Jim’s a lot…the boys love it!
Always follow swimming by a spaghetti dinner! Yummy…
We went in to my work one day because I had to get something done…to occupy Reily I gave him my camera…you can kind of see where I sit…
We’ve spent a lot of time at the Museum of Nature and Science since we have a membership there and it’s been too cold to do much outside…
The boys love the kid zone…
Hans and I took the boys to the National Western Stock Show…Reily liked wearing Hans’ cowboy hat…
And the big tractors were a hit!
As was the petting zoo…
And the boys actually lasted through about an hour and a half of the rodeo, too!
Isaac liked all the of the bulls!
We also went to Little Monkey Bizness with my friend Jackie, her sister Julie, and Julie’s son, Lucas. Reily got to know what it feels like to be bullied (since normally he’s the one doing the bullying), since Lucas likes to bite. So our afternoon went like this: “Lucas, don’t bite Reily! Reily, don’t hit Lucas!” Repeat.
Tarzan Reily!
Jackie, Reily, and Lucas…
Hans loves to read the magazine “The Week,” and one morning we caught Reily reading it over breakfast…
What? I need to be well-versed in world happenings when I enter preschool!
Isaac is our joyful, adorable, low-maintenance baby! He is so sweet, and growing up so fast!! I sometimes feel bad because it feels like he just gets toted around with his big brother since Reily requires so much attention and instruction…but Isaac handles it so well!
This was the day Reily found out how to make art work with marshmallows. He also spilled the entire container of bubbles about 2 seconds after I took this picture!
Happy Isaac!
Reily got caught in the chair one day…don’t ask me how, I was just glad he was smiling instead of screaming, so I grabbed the camera…
One day Reily’s toys, Woody and Buzz from Toy Story, were fighting. Reily promptly put them in time out and told them to sit down and be quiet! (Hmmm…think he knows that so well because he has to go into time out so much??)
Cool baby!
We also had our nieces down to spend the night and the boys stayed up with Grammy Sally…Isaac’s first night away from home! We took the girls ice skating up at Evergreen Lake and had a blast!
And of course we painted nails, watched movies, went shopping, etc…
And we learned not to make Uncle Hans spend too much time in Claire’s…
The boys were wiped out after that weekend, but they had a blast playing with Cooper!
Back at the museum again…the boys love the dinosaurs!
We met up with Kim, Tori and Joey so Crystal could have a day with just the baby…
The kids riding the alpacas…
We met my cousin Jenn and her family at Chuck-E-Cheese’s…and had a blast!
Cameron, Reily, and Isaac on a ride…Reily was the only one who really cared about the ride!
We’ve seen my grandparents a few times, and they are both doing well and in decent health. Here’s Isaac sleeping on GG…
Back at the museum again…this time we took my Grandpa to the Space exhibit since he loves Space. Here he is with Isaac and the astronaut…
And we also stopped at the Gems and Minerals exhibit…
And saw the rocks from the Freeland Mine!
Here’s a picture of Isaac just waking up…so cute! :)
We went up to Breckenridge one weekend to see the ice sculptures and spend some time in the mountains…
Reily liked this one of a dragon…
And there was one you could crawl on, which Reily LOVED!
I love this picture of me and Isaac…too bad Reily was being a stinker and wouldn’t smile!
We ate lunch at Mi Casa, our favorite Mexican restaurant…and the best part was the fried ice cream!
Yummy!!
Isaac didn’t get fried ice cream…he got rice puffs instead. I feel bad for him…
The other day my cousin Josh came to town, so we met him and my Dad, Jenn, Sam and Cameron for dinner at Red Robin! It was great to see him and we had fun even though both boys were super cranky. Come to find out they both had double ear infections! We’re getting better now, thank goodness!
Phew! Well, that’s all for now…I’ll try to post more about what’s been going on, but just wanted to get these pictures posted. Hope you enjoyed our taste of January!! Not sure anyone actually checks this blog any more since I'm such a blogging slacker...maybe I'll get a comment or two and it will motivate me to write more often! ;)

Aunt Sherie
I read it too! I hope Feb is a nice peaceful month for you guys. :)
I check your blog frequently! What a surprise!! So I had to laugh when you mentioned that Reily was getting bullied by another friend. I fear Cameron is his new bully! Cam had his checkup today and the doctor said he bites EVERYTHING because he's teething-even his cousin's NOSE!! Sorry again! It was fun to see you guys!
I think you are an amazing Mom! Wow look at all you have done! Keep it up!
