June 9th Update

I'm beginning to realize that frequent blogging is impossible with two little ones. So, I'm resigning myself to huge posts to update everyone on what we've been up to...but I'm committed to blogging since it's my primary way of communicating to our friends and family, and because I haven't been able to journal in about 2 years. Hopefully the blog will be a way to remember these wonderful memories we're making and a fun thing for the boys to look back on...

Now let's get on with it! :)

A few weekends ago, Hans and I were able to go to a wedding of a couple who have been going to our church for a few weeks. Isaac came along too, and slept the whole time...it was a wonderful wedding, filled with worship and beauty. It was funny, because Hans and I literally only knew the bride and groom, and the pastor and his wife and daughter. Yet it was such a touching ceremony and such a fun reception--we were more encouraged and had more fun than we've had at a lot of weddings where we've known the couple a lot more and knew everyone at the wedding! Here's a picture of us after the ceremony... This past weekend we went to the People's Fair in downtown Denver. It's one of our favorite traditions, but the first time we've gone with kids, since last year at this time we were in Mississippi! It's a weird mixture between a tinge of regret and a deep satisfaction to do the things we used to love as a couple...but now with kids. The events are totally different than they used to be--we don't have time to do what WE want...we're too busy chasing Reily or feeding Isaac. But it is so wonderful to see the excitement in Reily's eyes when he sees something new, or he does something that is so much fun for him, even though we never would have done it ourselves...

Here he is with Grandma Ellen, riding in a miniature fire truck.

Look at Reily--he did NOT want to be in the stroller!

Family shot...Reily kept running over to the big staircase in the background to try to climb the stairs. At the top was a huge trapeze...thank goodness we were able to get him right away, since the guy operating the ride at the bottom didn't stop him!

Chasing bubbles...Our little outlaw... Jumping in the castle...
Yummy, turkey leg!

Reily loves corn! Not so much corn on the cob...it's too hard to eat!

Mommy and Isaac...
We went to a Sky Sox baseball game in Colorado Springs with Hans' work last week...it was fun, but Reily wanted to run around the whole time. We had to leave in the 5th inning because he was throwing a classic 2 year old temper tantrum. Ugh...he's not even two yet, and I've about had it! Anyway, here are some pictures from before the meltdown:

Finishing the picnic with Daddy...Hans' big accomplishment was that he caught TWO shirts that were thrown into the crowd. We never catch those things, but he caught 2! He gave one to a little kid, but kept one for himself, since he loves free t-shirts!
I babysat a little girl, Nevaeh, from my MOPS group while her Mom had to work one day. I had her from 8 AM to 5:30 PM...and let me tell you, I do not want any more kids! :) Just kidding...she was sweet and she and Reily played a lot together so it honestly wasn't too hard. But boy was I tired at the end of the day!
Mr. Isaac getting a bath...

Reily looking in on Isaac...

You lookin' at me??

Sleeping in his crib. He only does it for about 20 minutes...so I had to take a picture fast!

That's all from here! Tomorrow is our 4 year anniversary...a lot has changed in 4 years! But I think if you would have asked me 4 years ago what I thought life would be like now, I'd probably be pretty close...just living the dream...Isaac sleeping on my lap, listening to Hans play with Reily in the bath and sing the sweetest incoherent ABCs...so sweet!!
Still, I'm looking forward to a date night without the kids tomorrow!
