39+ Weeks

Well, today I am 39 weeks and a few days pregnant…while I still have 5 days until my due date, I feel like he’s “late” because we were preparing for him to be early!  :)  Oh well, my guess is this isn’t going to be the last time our expectations are challenged by this little guy…

Last week at my appointment we did an ultrasound to check his size, and he looked pretty good—estimated at 7lbs 6oz (which was Reily’s weight when he was born).  I was 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced, and we decided to hold off on an induction because being induced increases the risk for shoulder dystocia, and since he doesn’t appear to be huge, my doctor thinks we’ll be okay.

I had another appointment today and no change…though the doctor did say if it snows tomorrow that Hans shouldn’t go into work because he doesn’t think he’d make it if I go into labor…they are expecting a fast labor (again! I was 9 cm when I got to the hospital with Reily, and 10 cm when I got to the hospital with Isaac), so the goal is the make it to the hospital as quickly as possible, and hopefully get an epidural!  Or at least, just make it to the hospital!

So…that’s the update!  We scheduled an induction for Thursday, January 19th if he’s not here by then…but we’re hoping to meet this little guy before then!
