Well, I have a new compassion and empathy for moms who are overdue with their babies…we never thought this one would make it to his due date, and here we are…4 days late getting ready to be induced! Again and again I am reminded to surrender control to Christ and pray for a healthy baby…maybe it’s not the way we thought or would prefer, but either way—it’s baby time tomorrow!!
Here are a few pictures on how we spent the last few days: Playing games…
Letting Reily play with the camera. This is me from his perspective…
Taking some videos and making sure the batteries were all charged up!
Practicing our grouchy faces:
Tickling to try to get a smile…no luck!
We went to the zoo the day before my due date, hoping that walking would help motivate the little guy to come out. No luck, but we had a fun day!
And even ran into my cousin Jenn and her wonderful family!! Yay for randomly seeing some of my favorite people ever!!
The boys could watch the penguins all day long!
And ever since we saw the IMAX movie on orangutans, they’ve pretended to be baby monkeys…so they had a blast seeing them!
Reily wanted to take pictures just like Daddy…he did pretty good for a 4 year old!
Artistic shot, thanks to Reily…(Daddy looks quite handsome if I do say so myself!)
Riding the train…
Mommy could barely get in and out of the train!
Trying to make him smile…since all of his other pictures he’s either giving his fake smile or scowling! :)
The rest of the week was spent as a mixture of impatience, surprise that I hadn’t had the baby yet, and acceptance that I would probably end up being induced…the doctor told me on Monday that I was 3.5 cm dilated, but I think he just threw in that extra “half” so I wouldn’t be too sad about being 3 cm for the last 3 weeks with no change!
On Tuesday I got to go to MOPS…we had Spa Night, and thanks to some amazing friends, I got a massage, had my feet rubbed by a reflexologist, and got my haircut! (Picture below—I was feeling a little crazy and chopped 6 inches off)! My dear friend Teri watched my boys for me today so I could go use a gift card for a pedicure, so I am feeling pampered and relaxed! (I have to note though, that as soon as I picked the boys up at her house, Reily stepped on my toe and messed up the paint. For someone who never gets her nails done, I was quite sad…luckily I swung by the salon and they fixed it really fast…and I again realize that pedicures and anything-girly will probably not last long in our household!) :)
Tonight we dropped the boys of at Grandma’s (thank you Grandma!!!) since my induction is at 6 AM tomorrow morning and we didn’t want to have to rush around with the boys early in the morning. We’ve been wanting to go on a special weekend away before baby came, but it never happened…so instead we decided to have a special date at the Melting Pot!
4 courses of deliciousness…unfortunately, poor Hans wasn’t feeling well (he stayed home sick on Tuesday, which if you know Hans, means he REALLY didn’t feel well!). Not sure he was able to taste much because of his cold, but hopefully he had a good time!
I sure did! Getting dressed up, cheese, chocolate, and 2.5 uninterrupted hours talking to the love of my life?? What a wonderful way to spend our last night as parents of 2 little ones…tomorrow we begin the journey of parenting 3 boys…I have a feeling it’s going to be a wild ride!
