October has been a month full of joy and sorrow around here…lots of things to celebrate and lots of sadness too. Normally I don’t use Sympathy cards often, and this month I’ve used up my supply…
We’ve become good friends with our neighbor behind us, Tom…he’s a bachelor in his 40’s or 50’s, and he and Hans have gone to a few football games together…we’ve gotten to know him well because Reily hits baseballs into his yard daily and he graciously throws them back into our yard every day…sometimes multiple times a day. His dog, Taz, has been sick for awhile, and Tom paid more than $20K for his care over the past few years since he loved him so much and Taz was his only companion…and Taz passed away about a week ago…it was hard explaining it to the boys. I really do wonder if dogs go to Heaven…it’s a nice thought, but not sure if it’s Biblical.
Then a few days later we learned that our neighbor, Mr. Jim, passed away. He was the sweetest gentleman in his 60’s, and lived a few doors down…we walk by his house all the time to go to the park, and he would always come out and say hi to the boys and catch up…he gave them a big plastic tool bench that they play with, and last Halloween he made special treats for them and a few of the other neighborhood kids. It will be so sad to go to their house on Halloween this year and remember how excited Mr. Jim got last year when he saw that it was us at his door and he ran back into the kitchen to get special Halloween cupcakes instead of the usual candy…
Another dear friend of mine who was pregnant and due a few months after me just delivered a stillborn baby girl named Eliza…I’m getting ready to go to her memorial service this morning. Again and again I am reminded how precious life is and how truly blessed we are, and how I can’t take that for granted for a moment.
On those notes, here are a few happier pictures from October…
We just got our new crib and put together the baby’s room. The boys love to climb in the crib and play…hmmm, not sure how that will work once the baby is here!
Isaac in front of the big boy room!
We spend a lot of time cuddling on the couch…mommy is starting to get very tired, so my boys and Bella help me snuggle. I’ll take these sweet moments with my boys any chance I get!!
This is why I hide the chocolate chips…but somehow they still seem to find them!
I figured I haven’t done a belly shot yet this pregnancy…but when I took it I thought there was NO WAY I was this big with my other two…this picture was a 26 weeks, and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t this big until the end with Reily, and at least 35 weeks with Isaac! Oh well…hopefully he’s not TOO big! :)
