We spent an afternoon at the zoo on a day when Hans was working late…September was a crazy month for him at work as usual, since it’s the end of the fiscal year and he was a budget analyst. (Yes, was…he started a new job with the Air Force a few weeks ago in logistics. They had a really nice going away party for him with speeches, etc…the boys and I got to go which was a lot of fun…)
Reily also had to get his 4 year shots…4 shots and a flu mist…it was rough! He cried and said they really hurt a lot…but at least now he doesn’t have to get any more until he’s 12! And we went to Dairy Queen afterward and got to ride on the deer…
Our other major news in September was that Reily got bit on the face by our neighbors’ dog…it’s hard because they’re our friends and we go to church together, and it’s just a puppy black lab who got too rough. A trip to the brand new Emergency Room in Castle Rock topped off our night…Hans was at a leadership meeting for church and wasn’t answering his phone or returning my texts (turns out he had the volume off all the way), but thankfully his parents came down and met me at the ER to help with Isaac.
They said hopefully no scarring, but he does have a little scar above his eye, and it’s been 5 or 6 weeks…hopefully over time it will fade! :( He was such a tough little guy though…I was very proud of him!
Isaac wanted to have cool bandaids too…
The weather has been gorgeous, so we’ve spent a lot of time at parks playing with friends…
And I finally got to go to a Broncos game and check out our season tickets that we share with my Dad! We were only given the option of 4 sets of tickets to buy…and these were the best ones! They are in the absolute LAST row, but at least they’re somewhat near the center of the field…I actually could see everything really well…and it was fun to spend the day doing something Hans loves so much…
I’ll probably regret posting this picture, but I had to include it to remember (though it’s one of those mommy moments that you know you’ll never forget). Why we thought that leaving our knife block anywhere but locked up was okay, I don’t know…probably because Reily never showed any interest to pushing the chair to the counter and getting up…and neither had Isaac until one day I walked downstairs and saw this:
I may or may not have burst into tears of thankfulness that he was okay and no one got hurt…and now we’ve moved our knives so there’s no way they can ever get to them! Praise the Lord for keeping my babies safe!!
We also got to celebrate my cousin Jenn’s birthday…I was planning to take her to a nice lunch, but last minute changes meant we ended up at a McDonald’s play area…sigh. Oh well, we’ll go out again another time WITHOUT kiddos! :)
Here’s another random picture of a playdate at the Rec Center—Reily was in school so I only had to keep an eye on Isaac in the pool…SO much more relaxing, I couldn’t believe it! Then we went and picked up Reily after his school and came back to the pool…by the time we got back everyone else had left, and we were literally the only ones there! It was awesome!
One of Reily’s birthday presents from us was tickets to see Thomas the Train…they were SO excited!
Especially Isaac! I just love this picture, he looks like he’s about to burst with joy and excitement!
Watching the miniature trains…they could have done this for HOURS!
And riding on Thomas…of course, my battery died right then and I didn’t even get a picture of Thomas, but it was still fun!
Here’s another random picture of Rainbow Tots, the music group we go to on Fridays…do you see Isaac banging on the drums in the background? Reily’s in school on Fridays, so just Isaac and I go…it’s been so wonderful having Mommy-Isaac alone time so much!
Another one of our September traditions…going to the Taste of Colorado! This time we met Hans’ parents in downtown Denver, and Reily slept almost the ENTIRE time! Isaac woke up when he realized there was food!
Sleeping through the chaos…and it WAS chaotic. We made the mistake of going on a day that they were having a free Boys 2 Men concert, and the place was packed…just getting through the crowds made it crazy, and we didn’t even care about the music! (I think I remember them from elementary school!)
We tried to get a nice picture, but Isaac would only hold still for a second and then want to run off…look at that blur!
Then he humored me and stood still for a second…
Playing in Lego Land…
I think that pretty much sums up our September! We had a lot of fun and enjoyed spending time with each other when we could…Hans worked a lot, but thankfully he usually only has to work so much over time during this time of the year…so it should get better going forward! :)
