Echo Lake and Mt. Evans

Two weekends ago we went up to Mt. Evans to have some much needed mountain therapy!  We definitely don’t go to the mountains enough…we taken them for granted since we live so close!

Here are Reily and Daddy at Echo Lake…

001

Mommy and Isaac hiking to our picnic spot!

002

The boys loved throwing sticks and rocks into the lake…we saw a ton of tiny fish, played in the mud, and pretty much just enjoyed the outdoors!

004

Oh yeah—sea horse came too!  And check out Isaac’s face!  Goofy!

005

I love these guys…

006

Could they be any cuter?

009

Enjoying our picnic…

013

We took a hike around the lake, and Reily picked up every stick he could!  He was so funny…until he tripped and one of the sticks stabbed him in the neck.  Then he made daddy carry him and all of his sticks!  Ha!

015

Wiped out!  (See Rei’s boo boo on his neck?)

017

While the boys napped, Mommy drank her Starbucks while Daddy did some high-altitude running to prepare for his big Pikes Peak Ascent race.  Even though my nurse practitioner said I couldn’t go up a mountain while pregnant, the dr. said I could go to 14,000 feet as long as I was well hydrated, had some caffeine to help with altitude sickness, and was able to come down if I felt weird at all…so I enjoyed my coffee and the view!

022

At the top of Mount Evans!

024

Yay!  I made it!

025

Yay!  I ran up it!

027

I’m sleepy!  But this is a pretty cool view!

031

The boys at the top of Mt. Evans:

033

Reily LOVES climbing on rocks…he’s a little mountain goat!  No joke!

034

And he thought it was the coolest thing in the world to see a REAL mountain goat while he was climbing!

038

Up in the clouds!

039

Isaac’s not so sure about mommy taking more pictures…he wanted to watch the motorcycles that were driving up to the summit!  Right before we left, two motorcyclists saw him watching them, and waved at him…you have NEVER seen such a huge smile on a boy!  It’s been more than a week, and he still tells everyone “Mot-cyc man wave-me!!”

040

Me and my boys!

042

The only way we got the boys off the mountain was promising them Beau Jo’s pizza when we got to Idaho Springs!

043

They both thought the honey was the best part!

044

YUMMY PIZZA!!

045

A much needed mountain day…hopefully a few more before the weather turns cold!
