Castlewood Canyon Hike

You'd never guess it was November in Colorado! The weather has been gorgeous...sunny and in the mid-70's for the past few weeks. (This week though, it's supposed to cool down...ugh!) On Saturday we decided to go for a short 2.5 mile hike in Castlewood Canyon, the state park about 20 minutes from our house. We'd never been there, thinking it wouldn't be that great since it was a "canyon" on the plains of Colorado. We actually had a really great time and it was nice to get out and do a little hiking.
Reily wouldn't let me take away his bottle for the picture...typical. He was thirsty and wanted a drink halfway through the hike!
Here is Hans overlooking the ruins of the dam that caused the huge flood of 1933...when the dam broke, it sent a 15 foot wall of water all the way to Denver (about 35 miles away)! You can't really tell in this picture, but Reily fell asleep holding his bottle to the smooth bounces of Hans' hiking rhythm. What a sweet baby...we're so glad he likes the outdoors!
